Help Granny Kill All The Zombies Before It's To Late!
Granny vs Zombies HD ($1.99) by Juan Casanueva is a new addictive game for the iPad. Though the game is new, there is nothing new about fighting zombies on the iPad. If anything, zombies are probably becoming one of the most over used concepts in iOS gaming. Even so, this particular zombie game does not fail to impress.
Like any zombie killing game, the main objective is to kill all the zombies...and of course, to stay alive. Users are given the choice between two characters. At first, users can only play as Granny, but later in the game you can unlock grandpa. There are currently only eight levels, each with five waves to pass in order to unlock the next level.
Each wave becomes progressively harder than the previous. The game offers three difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, and Hard. However, I tried the game on normal and found it quite challenging. I had to replay levels quite a few times before I could complete them and move on. If there is any one thing this game doesn’t cut back on, it is difficulty. Of course, true zombie-loving players might consider this a "pro", but those who just want to blast the undead and move on with our day may consider it to be a "con." Of course, this is why it is good that the difficulty can be adjusted to your preference.
The game starts players with just a baseball bat, which is a pretty amusing weapon to see an old lady use, especially when that old lady is whacking gruesome zombies. But wait, it gets even better; the zombies will drop all sorts of interesting weapons for granny to use. Users will find anything from assault rifles to full-blown rocket launchers. (So this one might be a little inappropriate for the children.) However, watching granny throw grenades and shoot down zombies makes for excellent gameplay.
There are three basic controls; on the left side of the screen, a simple joystick moves your character in any direction while on the right side, there are two buttons. The red button is used to fire the selected weapon, while the green button chooses your weapon.
The game offers tons of replay value and a great amount of challenge for any experienced gamer or novice. With seven destructive weapons, and thousands of zombies to kill, you and granny are sure to get a kick out of this one.
