iOS Apps Gone Free: Operation Wow, Get Outta My Galaxy!, Scribblify, And More

April 30, 2011

Ivanovich Games' multi-touch tap shooter, Operation Wow, and Ookoohko Oy's lovable platform game, Get Outta My Galaxy!, highlight today's AGF list, but we also have an app that allows your artistic side to shine, an Earth defense game, and a food breaking game to check out.

All app prices are subject to change at any time and without notice regardless of stated free duration. Price changes are solely under the control of the developers.

iPhone:

Operation wow ($.99 -> Free, 34.3 MB): A new spin on the classic arcade shooter, Operation Wolf. Like the original game, your objective is to take down every target that passes by while trying to avoid firing on the unarmed; but instead of manning a physical gun like the old arcade box, your fingers get to do the shooting. The game features six levels in History mode, three difficulty levels, two mini-games, two endless modes, and Game Center integration.

Operation wow is available for free today only (04/30). It has a 4.5-star rating with a total of 58 ratings.

Get Outta My Galaxy! ($.99 -> Free, 36.6 MB): Guide Waka, the lovable multi-armed creature, through four solar systems slapping the many wikus that have begun to spread across his home planet in order to restore peace and quiet. The game features Super Mario Galaxy-style levels, power-ups to collect, and two different control schemes.

Get Outta My Galaxy! is available for free through the weekend. It has a 5-star rating with a total of 11 ratings.

Second Impact: The Rise of Man ($.99 -> Free, 46.2 MB): Defend the planet Earth by launching missiles at the falling asteroids. Missiles are launched by tapping on the screen. The game features eight unique missiles to launch and a handful of upgrades.

Second Impact: The Rise of Man is available for free for a limited time. It has a 5-star rating with a total of 9 ratings. Universal:

Scribblify ($.99 -> Free, 5.9 MB): Let your imagination run wild with Scribblify, an easy-to-use drawing and painting app. The app features over two dozen paint brushes, 140 base colors and the ability to create your own custom blends, the ability to share your work on social networks, and an optional horizontal, vertical and quad mirror system.

Scribblify is available for free through the weekend. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 57 ratings.

FoodBreaker ($.99 -> Free, 16.4 MB): Instead of breaking blocks, you get to break food by bouncing a ball off of your paddle in this colorful arcade game. It features 100 levels, 10 item types, six skins, and local high scores.

FoodBreaker is available for free for a limited time. It has a 4-star rating with a total of 4 ratings. iPad:

Operation wow HD ($1.99 -> Free, 29.1 MB): Like the iPhone version above, but with iPad-optimized graphics and controls.

Operation wow HD is available for free today only (04/30). It has a 5-star rating with a total of 28 ratings. Developers: If you are a developer who would like to get your app included in our “Apps Gone Free” daily lists, here’s our basic set of rules:
  • It must have at least a three-star average rating at the time it goes free.
  • The app must not have been free numerous times (3+) over the last six months.
  • The free version of your app must not include ads.
To submit an app, simply send a request to [email protected] with the subject “Apps Gone Free.” Please include the name of the app, a link to it in the App Store, when and for how long you intend to offer the app for free, and anything else you would like to share. We will take it from there.
