Adobe Embraces The iPad With Photoshop Touch SDK - Will Launch Three New Apps This May
April 11, 2011
Following some rumors about a full version of Photoshop for the iPad, Adobe is now officially embracing the iDevice with an amazing new piece of software. It's designed to allow your iPad and their creative suite to work together.
In a nutshell, Adobe is launching a new software development kit that will allow developers to create apps that interact with Photoshop. It's an amazing concept, as this will allow users to move any part of Photoshop onto the iPad. While they can interact with your computer over Wi-Fi, these apps can also be made to work independently.
Also, to showcase the endless possibilities, Adobe is even launching three apps of its own called Eazel, Color Lava and Nav. Nav is an app that will allow you to move all the Photoshop tools and palettes onto your iPad. This way, you can simply focus on your work on your computer screen, while leaving the color and tool selection to your iPad. Color Lava is a virtual color palette, that will allow you to mix colors like a painter would.
Last but not least, Eazel, is a full featured next-gen painting application that can work independently. Reportedly revolutionary, its engine even takes into consideration the fact that your virtual paint has to dry, and how fast you interact with it will change everything. Also, your creations are resolution-independant, so you can have them redrawn at any resolution once sent to your computer. Yes, this will allow you to design a bus-sized banner on your iPad. Not to mention that the entire interface relies on fancy multi-touch gestures.
There are incredible ideas, and we can't wait to see these apps as well as what the world of developers can do with all this. For once, we have to give Adobe a tip of the hat.
