Lose Your Marbles With Animarble

Animarble ($0.99) by Zero Plus Plus Software is a cute game that is a cross between Bubble Pop and Angry Birds. The object is to fling your marble across the screen, and aim toward the other marbles. Watch it tumble and roll around until it finally stops. When three of the same marbles cling together, they will all pop and be removed from the game. There are some special marbles too, and they do different things. Some may help you, but others may hurt your game if you are not careful.

Each level brings a new challenge to keep the game from getting boring. The second level is fun as you try to balance the marbles on a scale. You are challenged with trying to get the marbles to pop and (at the same time) keeping an equal number of marbles on each side. If they go into the water, the game is over. As for the screen orientation, you can only have it in landscape mode. If you have the new iPad 2 with a Smart Cover, the hinges are on the bottom of the game. You almost need to take the cover off in order to play comfortably. The music is snappy and fun, and even a little catchy. It reminded me of a Nintendo Mario game. You are still humming the tune 10 minutes after you turn it off!

Animarble supports OpenFeint and Game Center, so you can compete against others. There is a lite version which is free, but it is ad supported and limited in the number of surprises along the way.

I am guessing this will be a hit among those who like other similar games. The graphics are original, but basic game play is a reinvented version of other games that many people currently enjoy.
