The Masters Tournament Comes Alive With New iPad App

April 7, 2011
Nothing signifies springtime in the U.S. better than The Masters golf tournament, which begins today and runs through Sunday. The tournament, the first of the four “majors” of the year, is now available as a $1.99 iPad app.  For any fan of golf, this is undoubtedly the must-have app of the year. Created by Augusta National, Inc., The Masters Tournament app is the perfect complement to one of golf’s most significant competitions. It serves both as a guide to this year’s event, as well as a historical record of past tournaments. Following a brief video introduction to Augusta National, live video streaming welcomes visitors. For the entire tournament, this means play at Amen Corner (Hole Nos. 11, 12, and 13) and holes Nos. 15 and 16. On Saturday and Sunday, visitors are greeted by CBS’ live simulcast, ensuring nothing is missed. Each video is displayed in full-screen, HD-quality, and viewable with 3G and Wi-Fi. Other tournament selections include a live Leader Board, featuring up-to-the-minute scoring and video highlights of the greatest moments on the course.  In addition, links take users to live updates and the latest tournament articles. The Masters Tournament app also includes a course overview (with flyover videos) of each hole, and an interactive timeline going back to 1931. Finally, the app is personalized by selecting favorite players and alerts. The Masters Tournament app, like the NCAA March Madness On Demand app, which came before it proves the iPad is a fantastic tool to stream live sporting events.
