Mozy Releases Simple, But Thorough App For Its Backup Customers

Mozy, the online file storage and backup service, recently released its new mobile app for the iPhone/iPod touch. It allows Mozy customers to quickly access their files from any iDevice.
What makes the app special is it allows users to email any file to family and friends while on the go. With photos, additional magic is obvious. These are viewed as thumbnails and each can be downloaded to your iDevice’s camera roll. From there, they can easily be published on Facebook, or emailed to others. Simpler still, you can keep them where they are and view them as a gallery.
For all its benefits, the Mozy app is not without its limitations. For one, it only works for U.S. and Canadian customers. Second, the app is for MozyHome account holders only. Those with a MozyPro account will have to wait for this benefit in a future app update.
Finally, the app is unable to decrypt any backups you’ve encrypted with your own private key.
There are a lot of online backup solutions available and each wants your business. It is nice to see Mozy step up to the plate and offer this free app for its customers.
