Take Pong To The Next Level With MultiPong
MultiPong ($2.99) by Febo Studio is a revolutionary game that revamps the classic arcade title Pong. Back in 1972 when Pong was first released, the game involved two bars and one ball. With a simple objective of hitting the ball back and forth, Pong was not very exciting.
MultiPong has completely changed this by adding many new features and power-ups. Not only will players battle against up to three opponents at once, but they will also be challenged with constantly changing atmospheres.
Players will advance through stages and can choose from seven game modes. They will find anything from classic Pong, with progressively harder levels, to custom modes such as “death ball” and “baby.” Often games have too many similar levels and don’t offer a variety of gameplay. MultiPong quickly avoids this problem by offering different game modes.
What makes MultiPong really stand out is the “bonuses” offered during gameplay. Though the game refers to them as “bonuses” they’re really power-ups. Players will find anything from sudden gravity to an electric pulse on their bar. I am sure this is not what the original creators of Pong had in mind, but this makes for great gameplay. Power-ups will randomly appear in the middle of the game, they are available to anyone playing, which means that even computer opponents can obtain them.
An important part to any successful game is the soundtrack. MultiPong features 14 Original music themes by KingQ4 and also allows players to add custom playlist from their device. I found the original soundtracks to be well composed and appropriate for the game; I saw no need to use custom music. MultiPong brings it all together with support for GameCenter leaderboards and achievements.
Overall, I have not been this impressed with a game since Angry Birds. I’m not sure if it’s because of how much I enjoyed the music or how interesting the power-ups are. Nonetheless, the game is well polished and very entertaining, be sure to check this one out.
