Have The Simplest ToDo List With Tiny Todo's

Tiny ToDo

Tiny ToDo's ($0.99) by Daniel Bryant is a simple task manager for your iPhone.

The App Store is no stranger when it comes to to-do and task management apps, but how many of them just come with tons of features that you may not need? Ever want something that just lets you enter a task and just simply mark it off when it's complete, without jumping through hoops to get there? Then Tiny Todo's could be worth checking out.

Tiny ToDo

The interface of Tiny Todo's is very simple. You enter your task in the text field at the top, and then hit Done. That's it. Your new task is entered into the list beneath the text field.

Incomplete tasks will be marked in red to signify that they still need to be done. If you tap on a task, you will see a screen that allows you to mark the task as complete or incomplete, and even add a note if you need it. Saving is done by hitting the Close button, and you can delete the task too, which will ask for confirmation first. The confirmation can be a good thing, if you're accident prone and are a bit too twitchy with the fingers.

A shortcut to marking off items as complete from the list is to simply tap-and-hold. This allows the user to delete the task or mark it off as complete. It is pretty much the same thing as tapping the task, but without the option for a note.

When a task is marked off as complete, it appears as green in the list. This is nice to help you distinguish stuff you have done and stuff that still needs to be done.

Tiny Todo's is a very simple and straightforward app. Despite this, the developer has included a help guide for those that are using the app for the first time.

The app also supports full multitasking. So if you are in the app and get interrupted by a phone call, the app will let you pick up where you left off before the interruption.

Tiny ToDo

While I love the simplicity of Tiny Todo's, I think that the app should have an "archive" section of sorts, so that complete tasks aren't still in the main list. If you have a large task list, then having all of them in the same list could be a bit cluttered, which goes against the minimalism of the app.

If not an archive section, at least allow for the multiple deletion of complete tasks - currently you can only delete one at a time. There should also be an indicator of when a task has addition information (a note), because currently, I cannot see which task would have a note attached to it. It would be a great help if I can be notified by a visual indicator of where a note would be.

Another thing I would like to see in the future is some kind of backup method, since there is currently none. After all, what good is a todo app if you can't backup your data?

I do appreciate the minimalism of Tiny Todo's, however, it needs a bit more work to be fully functional (but still follow the minimalist approach). There is already an update on the way that will fix memory leaks, close the keyboard more efficiently, and feature a new icon.

If you're looking for a minimalistic todo app, then I would spend the dollar for Tiny Todo's to help support and improve the app in future updates. This app does define a minimalistic approach to todos.
