QuikCam Updated - New Features, New Name - Plus, Win A Promo Code!

April 8, 2011
QuikCam, formerly known as QuickCam, has just gotten an update with some great new features. The responsive developer has already updated this weeks-old app to reflect requests from users. Read our review of this quick, clean camera replacement app here. In addition to the app’s attractive, simple interface and quick performance, there is now a settings icon where additional features can be accessed. Tap the Settings icon to bring up a menu: Special Modes, Camera, and Interface. Special Modes includes three options that you can turn on or off. RapidFire Mode allows you to hold the still button for burst photography. This feature was in the original version of the app, but now you can turn it on or off as desired. VideoPix Mode is another option, this allows still shots to be taken while taking video. Again, this feature was in the original version of the app, but now you have the option to turn it on and off. Brand new to QuikCam is the QuickPic Mode. This feature, when set, allows the camera to fire off a shot immediately upon opening the app. This is especially useful for those OMG moments! See a celebrity on the street? Your friend/child/dog doing something hilarious? Now you can whip out your iPhone and catch the moment faster than ever. Back to the Settings menu, choose Camera Settings. Here you can turn Auto Flash, Focus Lock, Exposure Lock, and White Balance Lock on or off. Each is a separate option. If you return to the Settings menu once more, tap Interface Settings for more choices. Turn an overlay Grid (a new feature) on or off. Pinch to Zoom and Display Zoom Slider can also be turned on or off here. A new option is Button Brightness. This is controlled with a slider and allows you to fade your control buttons for a better view of your subject. Another new feature you’ll notice is the fact that you can access your camera roll right inside the app. At the bottom center of the screen you’ll see a tiny icon displaying the last shot you took. Tap it to view all of the pictures in your Camera Roll (but not your entire Photo Library) without leaving the app. So, if you like a quick, simple camera app with features like being able to take photos and video simultaneously, taking a shot upon opening, and separate Focus/Exposure/White Balance locks, and more, then you’ll want to take a look at QuikCam. Even better, we have four copies to give away! For your chance to win one, simply comment below. Contest ends at 10:00 a.m. EDT. Good luck!   [gallery link="file"]
