Receive Text Messages Anywhere With Pushme.to HD
Pushme.to HD ($2.99) by Treebune s.r.l. is a real-time messaging service for iPad users. Like the previous app, Pushme.to: free instant messages on iPhone and in the browser, it allows text and picture messages to be sent between two iDevices or browser windows. All you need is an Internet connection and an account (if on an iDevice) to connect with your friends.
The app prompts you to create or sign in with an account when it is first opened. Registering is quick and easy, all you need is an email address. Every account has a unique webpage that non-iDevice users can chat through, usually http://pushme.to/username. This allows for anyone in the world to communicate with you. Using the browser chat does not require an account, but can only be used if the window is left open.
When first opening the app, it asks to enable push notifications. Make sure you do this! If not, new messages will not be updated in real time. The push notifications will alert you with the same format as if you were receiving a SMS.
Unlike the previous app, the iPad version only has one page making it very user friendly. There is no clutter in Pushme.to HD. It is easy to view conversation threads, create new conversations, and compose/send messages from this screen. The app also allows users to add their friends from the app to their contacts.
Aside from the mobile device apps, Pushme.to has created a Widget that can be added to websites so viewers can contact you directly. This Widget can be customized to fit the theme of your webpage.
Pushme.to is a revolutionary system. The browser to iDevice integration is extensive and provides a new loophole for users around expensive phone messaging plans. Unlike AIM and other real-time messaging apps, Pushme.to does not have to be open to receive messages. This feature alone puts it one cut above the rest.
