There Will Be No iPad 3 In 2011 - Report
April 12, 2011
Despite rumors earlier this year stating the contrary, there will be no “iPad 3” in 2011. This news comes from China-based Digitimes, which says iPad component makers have given no indication another Apple tablet is coming anytime soon.
When the iPad 2 debuted last month, one anonymous Apple staffer indicated it was “more of a speed bump than a redesign.” Here after, rumors began to fly indicating Apple would drop a “big fall surprise” this year, namely the iPad 3.
However, one unnamed component maker says this isn’t even possible.
They state:
As for the iPad 3 rumor, the sources from upstream component makers pointed out that the new rumored device should be an upgrade version of iPad 2 or an iPad 2 version that supports different communication format. Since Apple just released its iPad 2 in early March and is ready to start mass shipping, launching the iPad 3 would simply bite off share from its iPad 2.While many would love to see an iPad 3 before the holiday season, this appears nothing more than wishful thinking. After all, when component makers themselves have been given no indication the iPad 2’s lifecycle is coming to an end, how would it even be possible to release an iPad 3 before the end of the year? It wouldn’t. Plus, with millions of the second-generation iDevice flying off the shelves, Apple has no reason to do so. Most likely, Apple will announce an iPad 3 sometime in early 2012.
