Shoot Eggs Out Of The Sky With Hot Cross Bunnies
Hot Cross Bunnies ($0.99) by Fixdit is a slingshot shooter with an interesting Easter twist. The main objective of the game is to pop balloons, using hot cross buns. Your character is an aggravated bunny, with a slingshot tied to his ears. The slingshot is used to launch hot cross buns at floating balloons with eggs attached to them. As the balloons float up the screen, they pass through three areas. The areas are defined as "1X, 5X, and 10X," these are multipliers for your score.
The score is generated from popping the balloons. Each level has a particular score you must reach or surpass to proceed to the next level. However, users only have five hot cross buns to shoot per level; miss all five or don't score enough, and you loose.
The game does not offer any variety or change; all the levels are the same. The only thing changing is the score quota. Each level expects users to score more by popping balloons within a higher multiplier or by popping multiple balloons at once for a combo. This can be fun and challenging, but looses its appeal quickly.
The sling shot aspect of the game seems like a rip off of Angry Birds; it doesn’t have any originality to it. Though, this isn't the first game to use it, so I can't say I'm surprised.
Overall, Hot Cross Bunnies offers a simple and addictive game with somewhat of an Easter theme. For $.99 it isn't a bad title to check out, and who knows, it might even help you brush up on your sling shot skills for Angry Birds.
