Show Your Kids All Their Favorite Animals With Zoola
ZOOLA ($1.99) by Best kids Apps is a reference app for toddlers and children. As a child we all remember looking at large books of animals, now the next generation of kids can access this on their iPhone's and iPad's. With more than 250 unique sounds and crystal clear HD photos this is surely your child's ticket to fun learning with animals.
The app is broken down into five categories, farm, safari, forest, water, and specific breeds of dogs. This is not a large selection of the planet's animals, but for a child between the ages of one and five, this is perfect.
Users can navigate between categories at the bottom of the app through a tool bar. Once a category is chosen, a window view above the tool bar displays 12 pictures of different animals with their names below. Children can click any picture and it will take them to a second page with more information and pictures of that animal.
On the second page of any animal there are a few different features. They are displayed on another tool bar, which allows you to navigate between four different pictures. Amongst the four pictures you will find a male, female and baby picture.
The last picture category is represented on the toolbar by a heart. This category is supposed to display pictures that are “love” related. Though most of the pictures are of a male and female together, you might just find a cute picture of a child with that animal.
A child with an animal might not exactly be the best example of two animals in “love” or of “love” in general. However the picture is meant to imply that he or she loves the animal, which follows the theme. Nonetheless for a young child this is great, seeing other children just like themselves allows them to relate and triggers their imagination.
The app lacks a variety of animals, but in recent updates there have been additions to the app. With time I'm sure we can expect to see more animals making it on here. However, I did notice that the accuracy of the app is a little vague and skewed, animals such as "monkey" and "fish" don't exactly specify what kind of monkey or fish your looking at. This is ok for young ones, but don't expect to use this for your Zoology paper.
Overall, Zoola is a great app to have for toddlers and young children; it could even be used in a teaching environment. The developers have made it simple and interactive enough for any kid to enjoy. For $1.99 be sure to check this one out in the app store.
