If you enjoy augmented reality apps that let you interact with your environment by using the iPhone camera to incorporate the image into a game, check out the latest game from Pan Vision called Piclings. It has just been released on the App Store as a universal app.
Piclings is a cute and adorable platformer that allows you to take a photo, and use the image as a level background. The level is generated, and plays, based on the kind of image you choose. Gameplay consists of controlling a small creature while collecting gold goins and dodging enemies. You can even fly and jump below the platforms you are standing on.
The game allows you to let your imagination run wild by creating photos, or manipulating them, in such a way as to create great game levels. You can even share these levels online with other players. Additionally, there is a level editor that allows you to add more sections to your uploaded photo.
The controls are standard for a platformer with a virtual d-pad for movement; in Piclings it appears anywhere you touch on screen. The game also has a couple of power-ups for you to find and use in each level. The goal is to grab all the gold coins in each level to complete it. Here is a gameplay video:
Piclings is a universal app and is currently available for $.99 on the App Store.
