It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia (Or Not) With New Weather App

May 26, 2011
Need a no hassles weather app for your iPhone/iPod touch? Look no further than Beautiful Day, which recently launched in the App Store. Created by first-time iOS developer Reckless Abandon Labs, LLC, the app presents current and future weather conditions. However, unlike other apps that play overkill, Beautiful Day takes a minimalistic approach to present weather conditions. Beautiful Day uses two colors: black and white. On the top, you’ll see the current time and date; the bottom shows the weather. Weather, both for today and three days forward, is presented using temperature and an icon for expected conditions. For example, a thunderstorm is noted by a basic storm symbol. When precipitation is possible, a pie chart shows up indicating the likely chance of rain as a percentage. By clicking on the weather icon, further details are available in text format. These include expected high temperatures, wind speeds, and the percentage chance of precipitation. Finally, a caution icon on the lower right side of the screen denotes possible hazardous conditions, as provided by the National Weather Service. These could include dangers due to flooding, tornados, or snowstorms, for example. A click on this icon takes you to the actual report via the National Weather Service website. Take a look:

Beautiful Day is available today in the App Store for $.99. A future app update is expected to make it universal, so it will run on the iPad too.
