Big City Adventure: New York City HD ($6.99) by Big Fish Games, Inc will have you playing for hours as you travel around The Big Apple searching for hidden objects in neighborhoods and around well-known landmarks. Choose your character and you will be on your way to exploring: Harlem, China Town, Central Park, Times Square and more. Along the way, you will learn interesting facts and bits of history about this famous city on the Hudson.
Once you begin, you are given a list of 12 items to find in your location. This can be a challenging eye spy since there are several items hidden within the picture that will fool you. Sometimes you need to find two or more of the same item, but they will not look exactly the same.
There are hidden coins to find that will give you more points, add time to the clock, or show you where an item is located. You can also shake your device to receive a clue if you are really stumped. You receive points based on how fast you complete the puzzle and how many coins you have left. Once you complete a level, you are challenged to a mini-game in order to move on to the next location. These games include mazes, matching puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, and more.
The assortment of mini-games along with the hidden object puzzles makes the app quite refreshing. They add variety and an element of mystery, as you never know what is coming next. Each level is new and exciting and never seems to bore.
Big Fish Games, the developer, really thought through the details of this app. They added features that are often left out of many other games. There are integrated iPod controls so you can listen to your music, Facebook integration to send postcards of your travels, multiplayer options, and orientation flexibility. Big City Adventure: New York City also has replay value because the lists of objects to find are always changing, even in the same picture.
Big City Adventure: New York City is available for both the iPad and iPhone. The iPad version is in HD and utilizes the beautiful screen resolution of the iPad. If you are not listening to your own music using the built-in iPod feature, the game itself has soothing music to help keep you focused on your search.
If you like eye spy hidden object search games, Big City Adventure: New York City will not disappoint. The game is a little more expensive than other games in the App Store, however the features and play far exceeded my expectations and the investment is worth the cost to own a game I will continually enjoy.
