The Cannes Film Festival (Flash warning), as the biggest showcase event in global motion pictures, has an ocean of followers oceans apart. While most of those interested are unable to attend the festivities, everyone with an iPhone can take a seat up front for all the first-hand news of film and fashion spilling out of the south of France. Festival de Cannes -- Official, from Orange, is your ticket to all the drama, comedy, and suspense of 2011's 50 film selections. The gratis app includes the following features:

• Hour-by-hour coverage of the festival with news and interviews to share on Facebook, Twitter or E-mail
• Fact sheets about the movies, juries and events of the 2011 festival

Overall, it seems to be a pretty decent package for film buffs, so check it out. (Unfortunately, the only film I'm seriously interested in, crazy Werner Herzog's still-unreleased Cave of Forgotten Dreams, already ran the festival circuit last year and won't get any extra press here.)
