Maker Of Flight Control, Real Racing Titles Sold

Game maker giant EA has announced it has reached agreement to acquire Firemint, the creator behind Flight Control and Real Racing. The deal is expected to close in two to four weeks.
What this news means for customers is unknown. However, it could lead to more titles being released under the Firemint name.
According to Barry Cottle, Executive Vice President and General Manager of EA Interactive:
“The Firemint team is remarkable for its critical and commercial success. Having them as part of EAi will accelerate our position as worldwide leader in game development for mobile devices and online gaming platforms.”Based in Melbourne, Australia, Firemint’s iOS titles include Real Racing 2 HD and Flight Control HD for the iPad, and Real Racing and Flight Control for the iPhone/iPod touch. EA recently acquired Mobile Post Product Inc., which provides cross-platform development and porting games for smartphones. Other recent acquisitions include Chillingo (October 2010) and Playfish (November 2009). No financial terms were announced regarding the acquisition of Firemint.
