Experience Live And Unedited Wildlife Video With Wild Earth
Wild Earth ($3.99) by ZooVision is an app that will bring you live wildlife cameras from far away places. Journey with the elephants in Africa, watch the penguins at Pennsylvania’s Penguin Point, swim with sharks from around the world and visit a watering hole in South Africa. These live cameras are just a tap away on your iPad.
When you open Wild Earth you will be shown different postcards with the location of the camera. Select your location and you are brought to a new page where you are able to begin the video. A couple of the cameras have 2D and 3D camera options. All the videos are live except the African safari, which is only live at certain times. If you don’t catch a live event, you will still see a video from a previous safari.
These videos are very simple and do not have a lot of audio or commentary. You have the option to watch the video in full screen and for the most part the quality is quite good. Occasionally the lighting is not the best, but this probably has to do with the time of day and the location of the camera. I noticed this especially on the watering hole camera location. Wild Earth also supports AirPlay, so you can watch the video on your home television.
This is a wonderful way to experience wildlife, as none of the videos are edited or scripted. This is an enjoyable way to immerse yourself in the world of nature and experience the behavior and habitat of many different animals.
Wild Earth will bring excitement and education to all ages. The developers have said that new camera locations will be added to the app. But during the couple of weeks I used it, I had the same location options, mostly in South Africa.
Wild Earth has a 30-day free trial after you purchase the app. After the trial period, there is a subscription fee of 3.99 per month for unlimited viewing. It is worth checking out for at least a month to experience the unique video you will not find anywhere else.
