"The Galaxy Tales" Puts All Your Vacation Media In One Easy App
May 26, 2011
The Galaxy Tales, an iPhone traveling companion developed by Peter Druska, is a simple app with a simple purpose: to record your vacation with ease and elegance.
The logo, shown in this post's leading image, is what initially drew me to the production, and that smiling suitcase really is packed with satisfying utility.
Breaking your trips up into the app's titular "Tales," Druska's solution is, more or less, a media aggregator. Sure, your iPhone already takes pictures, shoots videos, and lets you record both audio and text-based notes. The idea here, though, is to combine all related entries into one comprehensive package and present them in a chronological manner. (And, in case you're wondering, the app automatically sends all created audio and video to their requisite positions within your iPhone's photo roll.)
In all, the app does what it sets out to do. For a first release, the developer exhibits convincing dedication to updating his offering. The first major revision should include a map function to track the geographical points of data entry, and the second update will feature HTML posting of your trip to private online servers for social sharing.
Each big update, though, will come with a price hike, so get The Galaxy Tales for $0.99 in iTunes today.
