SHAPE Services have just released an update to their all-in-one mobile instant messaging app IM+. This recent update brings the universal application to version 5.0. The update is definitely worth checking out because IM+ now has a new service called "Neighbors," which is a location-based messaging service.
Neighbors adds various features to the app and really ties into social networking as well as standard messaging and communication. The service allows you to find your friend's real locations on a map, and interact with other users in your vicinity. You can even use the interactive map to buy and sell local goods and services. IM+ even allows you to publish and view local offers and announcements as status updates.
Here is a list of features you'll find in IM+ (from the app description):
The app also offers: twitter feed integration, sending and receiving messages with no costs involved, push notifications, ability to send and receive images, group chat, Web browser, and an in-app purchase of speech recognition. SHAPE Services plans on continuing to support IM+ by adding additional features like a 360 degree camera view. IM+ 5.0 is a universal app, and can be found on the App Store for free. A pro version, IM+ Pro, is also available on the App Store for $9.99.
