IntelliVocab Is Worth Checking Out For English Vocabulary Practice

May 6, 2011
IntelliVocab is an iPhone app that offers training in English vocabulary, and it has been updated quite recently to version 1.5. The app is designed for students and individuals who want to improve their language skills and prepare themselves for examinations such as the GRE, SAT, or GMAT. The full name of the app is IntelliVocab for GRE and GMAT and it is free to download from the App Store. The app has been designed by MIT students and tested at labs such as MIT Computer Science and Web Semantics Lab. The recent update only had one major change; it now supports remote syncing for new vocabulary words. According to the developer, Faqden Labs (from the app description), Intellivocab works in a way that is based on constant practice and interaction, rather than planning sessions with only a set number of vocabulary words to go over:
"It uses latest machine learning algorithms and web semantic techniques to collapse billions of possibilities into comprehensible probabilistic profile information, in real-time. It completely controls the learning environment, so that you do not have to plan your learning approach. All you need to do is interact. The more you practice, the more it learns about you and figures out words that are diffcult for you. It ensures you achieve the top scores in competitive exams like GMAT, SAT, GRE or in your professional work."
Other features include over 600 vocabulary words that are common in competitive exams along with word-customization based on the experience level of the user. Check out IntelliVocab on the App Store for free.
