Ever had one of those days that you wished you could take a trip to the zoo, but the weather was bad or it was just too close to closing hours to get there? Pocket Zoo can scratch that itch for you and you won't even have to leave you home.

Pocket Zoo is aimed at children, but is enjoyable for adults as well. The app offers the option to scroll through various live video feeds of zoo animals.

As I clicked on multiple feeds to explore just what they were like I noticed two things: 1) the video quality definitely could have been better and 2) many of the feeds were black without an indication that they were down. It got a bit annoying to try to track down which feeds were actually carrying video and which were not. If the feeds were updated a little more often, that would be a plus.

It's exciting to find a live feed when the animals are near the camera. It does feel like you are at the zoo. Easily take a snapshot with a handy button at the bottom of the screen. The photo will be saved to your camera roll or you can share what you are watching on Facebook.

You also have the option to scroll through pictures of zoo animals and hear the sounds they make. This can be great entertainment for little ones who are interested in learning about animals and enjoy imitating their noises.

When your favorite animals aren't live, you always have the option to go to the video clips tab and watch plenty of videos there. This is a nice feature considering that live feeds aren't always reliable.

Overall, my kids and I have enjoyed this app. Mine are a bit too young to be patient to wait for animals to come near the live feeds, but they still enjoyed the pre-recorded videos and photos with the animal sounds. So, for you animal lovers out there, make sure you take a look at Pocket Zoo.
