McDwiff Opens CAD Files Via iPad

May 23, 2011
As any computer-aided designer (CAD) will tell you, being able to read a DWF file is essential to get a job done. Now, a third-party vendor has released an app that reads Autodesk’s Design Web Format (DWF) files on the iPad. Created by Austin Silver Software, McDwiff is a simple and relatively inexpensive way ($6.99) to open and view DWF and DWFx files on your iPad. Best of all, since it uses Autodesk’s own native translation technology, it is accurate. Plus, the app is Dropbox supported. Unfortunately, in order to use it, you’ll need to connect to Autodesk’s online DWF translation server via Wi-Fi or 3G. McDwiff is available in the App Store. A Mac version is available in the Mac App Store for $9.99.
