My Gallery, Create Photo Galleries And Slideshows

Users choose pictures from their iDevice photo app and bring them into My Gallery. Each gallery can have between one and five photos. Galleries can be named, and information about them can be included. There are several background and frame options to choose from. Selecting photos is easy, but customizing frames, backgrounds, and picture arrangements is time consuming.

Instead of having all the options displayed in a menu, users must tap on the frame button multiple times to see different options. This isn’t a problem, however there is no back button. So if you accidentally tap past the desired frame, you have to go through them all again, which is quite annoying. The same problem applies to background choice and arrangement of the pictures.

The slideshow feature displays pictures one at a time. Timing between images can be customized and there are options to include only one gallery or all in the slideshow. But multiple galleries cannot be chosen. Pictures are displayed individually even if they are in a gallery with more than one image. The images are not displayed full screen, and they are all shown as the same size regardless of their size in the gallery. I wish there was an option to display the gallery as-is in the slideshow feature.

The only way to see the gallery created without toolbars is through the social networking tab. Photos can be taken of galleries and they are saved to your iDevice’s photo library. Pictures of galleries can also be uploaded to Facebook or Twitter and emailed.

Overall, I like the ability to create photo galleries on your iDevice. But My Gallery doesn’t allow enough customization to do so effectively. This app can definitely be improved.
