Revolve Ball ($0.99) by Ganbaru Games brings mazes on the iPad and iPhone to a whole new level. The accelerometer is commonly used as the main controller for a game this style. However, the developers have designed it so that you control the game by touching and rotating the screen. The ball used to navigate throughout the maze is constantly falling, by rotating the entire map we can guide it through.
The Mario series always had a portion of the game that was just for choosing other worlds. It wasn’t a normal menu though; you could walk around and play through it just like any other level of the game. Except it was only there to select levels. The developers have taken this clever idea and sneaked it into their game. Though it isn’t as elaborate as Mario or other large title, it’s still great seeing this in a simple iPhone game. Players will have a small cross-shaped maze; from here they can enter into all four worlds. Though, the second, third, and fourth must be unlocked.
Once you begin playing a level you’ll find yourself racing to finish in a set time. Each level has a specific time that must beat in order to pass. Though if you find yourself running out of time, look out for extra time add-ons to increase the time limit.
Through out the game each level becomes progressively more challenging like any other title. Players will find them selves battling against gravity arrows and dodging deadly spikes. Even though the levels are unique and the controls are slightly different from the norm, Revolve Ball does share some major similarities with other Labyrinth related titles.
