RedLynx And Chillingo Announce DrawRace 2: Racing Evolved For iPhone And iPad
May 5, 2011
RedLynx and Chillingo have just announced DrawRace 2: Racing Evolved, the sequel to the hit racing game that was part of the 2009 line-drawing craze brought about by Firemint's Flight Control.
DrawRace 2 will utilize the same line-drawing mechanic established in the original game, where you draw your path before the race begins, and the speed of your vehicle is determined by how fast your finger moves. This method of control makes cornering a little difficult until you get the hang of things, but once you do, you should be drifting in and out of turns like a pro.
The control method is pretty much the only thing DrawRace 2 will share with its predecessor, however, as the game will be beefed up in almost every way imaginable.
DrawRace 2 will feature a brand new art style complete with 3D vehicles and terrain, doing away with the basic cartoony look of the original. It will also feature 16 different cars, 32 tracks, a new world league, five race types, a turbo button to burst out of corners, 180 career challenges, global leaderboards, and pass and play multiplayer.
"With a rich variety of new cars and car types, a ton of new tracks, turbo controls, and an all-new career mode, the game offers a giant step forward in touch-based racing," said Atte Ilvessuo, co-founder of RedLynx and executive producer of DrawRace 2.RedLynx has stated that DrawRace 2: Racing Evolved should be hitting the App Store sometime around the second quarter of this year.
