Snuggle Truck Gets Cozy With Fuzzy Animals
Snuggle Truck ($1.99) by Owlchemy Labs was once called "Smuggle Truck" and gameplay focused on trucking illegal immigrants through the desert. Once Apple received it for review, it was rejected because of the controversial issue it portrayed. After all the work that went into the app, the developer scrambled to figure out a way to alter it so it could pass Apple's guidelines. Now "Smuggle Truck" is called "Snuggle Truck" and rather has the player truck stuffed animals to the zoo.
I knew Snuggle Truck had an interesting back story, but that does not always mean the app itself is a hit. I went in with an open mind.
Once you delve in to Snuggle Truck for the first time, you are guided through a helpful tutorial. The controls are easy to master and work smoothly. Once you learn the controls you are ready to hit the road.
Choose a level to explore and the clock will count down. You start out with a certain number of fluffy stuffed animals in the back of your pickup and as you speed up and face hills you must slow down or tilt the truck forward or backward to keep as many animals contained without falling out. Race against the clock and get them to the zoo as soon as possible.
Along the way, you will notice a few "Fuzzies" signs. Once you hit a Fuzzy area, one will fly up in the air and, if you can catch it in the truck bed, you gain points.
Once a level is completed you will see what awards you earned for the level. If you are not satisfied with your score, try again until you are happy.
After playing a lot of the levels, I noticed a lack of variety as far as increased difficulty or variety in gameplay. Yes, the game did get a bit harder, but I was able to beat most of the levels on the first try. I would like to see more variety and difficulty in these respects.
The developers of Snuggle Truck have persevered through a major setback to get this game into consumers' hands. The concept is unique and interesting and gameplay is entertaining. If you are looking for a fun game to play with your kids or even on your own, Snuggle Truck is worth checking out.
