Starfront: Collision HD Hits The iPad

After what seems to have been an extremely long wait, Gameloft has finally delivered the iPad version of the real time strategy title Starfront: Collision. Starfront Collision HD has just been released and offers basically the same features as the iPhone version, despite the long delay and promises of iPad 2-specific additions. The game even offers the same four-player online battles as the standard version. It would have been nice to see iPad owners get 3 vs. 3 games. Despite these minor complaints, the game has plenty to offer for RTS gamers and Starcraft fans who happen to own an iPad. The game has been inspired by the Blizzard games, notably Starcraft 2, with three similar races to play as, and a similar resource-gathering mechanism. The visuals are even strikingly similar. Starcraft 2 has been a huge hit and to bring such a game to iDevices is a huge deal for gamers since the Blizzard offering is only available on PC (not even consoles). The game is perfect for the iPad and should have really been released for it originally, as games of this genre really benefit from the larger screen. Many gamers online have played the iPhone version on the larger screen due to how big of a difference it makes in unit selection and overall gameplay satisfaction. The best thing about Gameloft games is their experience with porting PC or console games to the touchscreen devices and making them control well -- Starfront: Collision is no exception and has been fine-tuned for precision.
