Translate Twitter With PenguinTwit
PenguinTwit (Free) by MetaCreate is a translation app designed for Twitter pages. Instead of having to translate individual tweets, PenguinTwit translates the entire Twitter feed with just one tap. The app utilizes Google translate for ten languages, so you can rest assured that the translations are reliable. Users can also rotate their iPhone to view tweets in both the source language and the translated one.
Aside from translations, PenguinTwit can also be used to access most of the functions found in the official Twitter app. The toolbar on the home screen has three buttons. New tweet, refresh page, and More Functions. The More Functions page contains the search and preference tools. Language options are found in the preferences in the More Functions menu. Users can also customize the text and background color of the Twitter feed, however the options are quite limited.
The app’s features are not very well organized. I prefer the tabs that the Twitter app uses to PenguinTwit’s all-in-one list. The customization that the app offers is not consistent throughout the app, so the interface is not appealing.
Overall, the ability to translate tweets quickly is very useful, especially if English is not your first language. But aside from the translation tool, this app is not very inspiring. The menu is cluttered, and the app’s graphics are severely lacking. If translation is important then try PenguinTwit, if not stick to the official Twitter app.
