Yummy Wink Is Serious About Good Food
Yummy Wink recipes for iPhone ($1.99) by Chris McChesney makes absolutely no bones about the fact that they have loaded their app with the best recipes available. There are too many apps available that offer quantity of content rather than quality.
The developers of Yummy Wink know that your time is valuable and therefor has literally traveled the world consulting chefs, culinary educators and award-winning experts. They put the best of the best at your fingertips and all you need to do is gather the ingredients and Yummy Wink will walk you through the rest.
The layout of the app is easy to follow and organized. You can browse the recipes if you are feeling uninspired, or you can search for specific dish types. There are deserts, drinks, main courses, appetizers and more to choose from. Just reading through the list of recipes made me hungry.
I really appreciate that there is a picture to go with the recipes. I hate not seeing the finished product I could be making. Also, you can make a shopping list within the app (something all good recipe apps include). Save recipes to your favorites and assemble a shopping list from your "favorites."
One critique I have is that I would like to see Yummy Wink add instructional videos in the future. Even kid-friendly instructional cooking videos if there is a special technique for a recipe. This would be especially helpful for days like Mother's Day and the kids want to make mom pancakes for breakfast, but need a little more guidance than just a recipe list and written instructions.
Also, in the future I would like to see the interface just a bit prettier. It's not ugly now, but it would be a little more pleasing to the eyes if it was a bit slicker.
There are 250 recipes to choose from. Not an astounding number, but enough to keep you busy for a while. Each recipe was chosen with care and it didn't take me log to realize that the names of the recipes were as well.
If you're sick of apps that claim to be loaded with recipes, but you have found that they have loaded their apps with just "ok" recipes, you need to check out Yummy Wink. These people are dead serious about getting you the instructions and ingredients you need to know to make mouth-watering dishes in your own kitchen.
