Zilla The Monster Runs Amok In Beautiful, Destructive "Demolition Dash"

May 27, 2011
Demolition Dash, from developer dreamfab, is a new take on the classic "endless running" genre. Instead of offering an infinite, dynamically-changing single course (which is coming as an option in a future update), the app description has you ready to
[t]ake control of the tiny monster Zilla and annihilate everything in sight: wipe out SWAT teams, blow up cars and leave only rubble behind on your way through eight famous cities.
The settings include Paris, New York, San Francisco, London, Moscow, Tokyo, Sydney, and Rio de Janeiro; and Zilla's abilities -- jumps, double-jumps, and fierce roars -- can be enhanced with power-ups as you make your way through 24 different levels. The Retina-supporting graphical style is cartoony and sharp, with flashy particle effects and a fast, aggressive frame-rate. Zilla's four lives, represented by her (his?) segmented tail, are spent each time she fails to jump a gap or blast a police blockade; and the progressively harder courses beckon play after play. Demolition Dash for iPhone is a steal at $0.99, while the iPad's HD version is only a dollar more. Grab both copies before the price goes up, and be sure to stay tuned for our in-depth review!
