Boingo Wireless Now Offering Service In The Friendly Skies
June 27, 2011
Boingo Wireless is expanding its reach today by offering in-flight internet access through a new partnership with Gogo, a company that powers wireless Internet connectivity on airplanes, according to news first reported by TechCrunch.
The new partner means Boingo customers will now be able to surf the web from the air on AirTran Airways, Delta Airlines, Virgin America, Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Frontier Airlines, United Airlines, and US Airways flights.
Currently, the Gogo service is available on nearly 1,100 planes.
According to TechCrunch:
Now on the Gogo home pages, users will be able to choose Boingo as their provider and log in with their existing Boingo username and password. Users who have Boingo’s Wi-Finder app can also log-in to Gogo as well by accepting the flight segment charge and entering a CAPTCHA validation phrase. In addition to their monthly or yearly fee for access, Boingo customers will also have to pay another fee for in-flight access. However, these prices are very reasonable. They currently start at $4.95, depending on the length of the flight. Thoughts?
