"Cavorite" Hits The App Store Tomorrow, June 29

June 28, 2011
A retro-looking 2D platforming-puzzle game, called "Cavorite," is about to make a splash with traditional gamers. According to a post on TouchArcade from the game's developer, Cavorite has been approved by Apple and will be hitting the App Store on Wednesday, June 29. Cavorite offers a Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis level of 16-bit visuals set in a steampunk universe. The developer said that it was influenced by a number of other games and a novel by H.G. Wells called "First Men in the Moon." "The game design was strongly influenced by the PC game Professor Fizzwizzle and the iPhone game Pizza Boy," he also said on a TouchArcade post. Cavorite will have 63 levels to play through, across three unique landscapes. There will also be bosses to fight and achievements to earn for the purists. There is even a built-in screenshot-grabber and Twitter integration is also offered. Anyone who grew up with 90s video game systems that offered many great 2D platformers (with this kind of graphical style), will want to check out Cavorite tomorrow. Here is the game's trailer:
