This Clever Puzzler Will Hook You From The Start
Clever Buttons ($0.99) by kakburk takes common clothing materials and turns them into great puzzles. Though the theme is unusual, don't be fooled - this game is incredibly fun and addicting.
I just love the back story of the developer. Linnea, a mother of two and former chemist, decided to switch careers. She decided to become a developer. Though I have read this dozens of times in my inbox, "This is my first app...please look at it." I did not expect much, as is usually the case, but this time I was pleasantly surprised. Linnea really blew my mind.
Clever Buttons is themed around buttons and sewing. Definitely an unconventional theme, but it makes sense once you learn the rules. Buttons of the same color can be connected via a thread - lots of fun twists are added with each level.
Clever Buttons is a puzzle game that will please people who have enjoyed games such as Smoody and Cut the Rope. There are several dozen levels to conquer (increasing in difficulty and adding all sorts of elements along the way). I do admit, for the first few levels I was wondering if it would get much harder because I was flying through them. I'm happy to say that I was soon stumped on several levels.
There is a "par" concept - the game sets the recommended number of moves you can use to beat the level. If you stay within the par goal set, you get a gold star for that level. It is possible to beat the level by exceeding the number of moves set, you just won't get a star. Also, in the top right hand corner is the number of buttons you must eliminate to beat the level. GameCenter integration gives players a peak at how their friends are doing and who is more clever at eliminating the buttons.
There is another fun mode of play called Score Attack which sets a time limit. I'm already noticing some chatter about this mode and wonder if this may be the more popular of the two. The goal of Score Attack is to connect buttons of the same color as they fall through the screen. Connect as many as you can before the time limit is up.
Although I know the developer is very humble about her accomplishments in creating Clever Buttons, I'm predicting great success for this game. I cannot stop playing it. If you need a little extra brain teaser during the beginning of the lazy summer months, pick up Clever Buttons in the app store today.
The developer is working on new levels even now and has a few updates planned to release very soon. I look forward to even more great things from Kakburk Games in the future!
