Colors, Bumps, And A Whole Lot More
Bump Color ($0.99) by EMBATTLE GAMES CO., LIMITED Bump is a cute and amusing game for all iDevices. It has nice graphics and can be entertaining for all ages, even though it is geared towards a younger demographic.
The object is to navigate the small fish through as many worlds as possible. To do this, have the fish bump against the walls that share its color. After each bump the fish changes color and the process repeats. The controls are very simple, just tap and hold either side of the screen to have the fish turn in that direction.
If you bump a wall with the same color, the fish gets a small speed boost and points. If you bump a wall of the wrong color the fish slows down, turns black momentarily, and coughs up black squiggles (oh no!). Point values increase as you have successful bumps in a row. For example the first successful bump earns 10 points, the second 20, the seventh 70, and so on. Three good bumps in a row begin a color trail that follows the fish.
As you progress through the levels jellyfish appear. Some are helpful and others are harmful. Colored jellyfish can be eaten for bonus points and score multipliers (if you grab all of them in a group). Black jellyfish squirt black splats on the screen and make it hard to see where you’re going.
If you think that you’ve heard the game’s soundtrack before, you probably have. It is a slight, and I mean slight, variation of the famous Mario tune.
Bump Color supports GameCenter and OpenFeint with 22 achievements. There are 19 different levels to complete. One complaint is that the fish does not speed up as it progresses through levels, so the gameplay isn’t that much harder the higher up you go.
Overall, Bump Color is bright and fun game for kids. With an amusing tune (thanks Nintendo), easy controls, and a simple gameplay, anyone can enjoy Bump Color.
