Counting Zoo Adds A Personal Touch To Storybooks, Plus Win A Copy

When you first open the app, you can choose a boy or girl for the story. You will then have the option to add faces from your photo library to the child, as well as the mom and dad. The editing tool and refining tool will help crop out everything but your heads for a perfect fit on the bodies. You can also add your voice as well as your child’s to each character. In the story, you will hear the recording when you touch one on them.

The story itself takes the whole family on a trip to the zoo, where your child will count the animals. There are giraffes, zebras, monkeys and more. Each page has one additional animal, up to 10, for your child to count. When you touch each animal, a child’s voice will call out its number. Each page offers additional animation, like flying birds or swimming penguins.

You can choose the read-along feature, or you can read by yourself. You can also turn the sound and animation on or off.

There are two minor complaints that I have with this app. One is that the settings bar pops up if you touch anywhere on the lower screen. It might be an improvement to make the settings button smaller and less sensitive. Additionally, you can’t jump between pages. You can only scroll through each page, one at a time.
