Dinger's Smooth Gameplay Is Fun And Entertaining For All Ages
Dinger HD ($1.99) by Gammon Studios LLC is pleasing to the eyes and entertaining for gamers of all types. It's a multi-dimensional scroller starring an adorable hummingbird named Dinger.
Dinger has a problem. His gardens have been invaded by bees and, well, bees are a pain. He is on a mission to rid the gardens of the bees and must collect nectar to gain enough energy to shoot them away (no, not with a gun, but with spitfire balls).
When you first begin the game, you are taken through a quick tutorial. Read through it - don't try to wing it. It's not that the game is overly complicated, but you might end up being frustrated if you don't read what Dinger's mission is and how it is you can help him get through the levels.
As you venture through each level, there is no lack of places to explore. Watch out for bees and keep collecting nectar and lives by flying through flowers that are "leaking" light - this means they have nectar to be harvested. Control how much energy you use as you shoot bees (the closer you are, the less energy you need to use). Once your energy bar is empty, you better hurry to collect more nectar before you get stung.
Some of the bees are harder than others to shoot. Some move, some don't. Some are big and easier to aim at, yet others are small and move quickly. The various levels of difficulty keep things challenging and entertaining. For now there are six levels to explore. To add to the fun, you can keep track of you scores in GameCenter.
The developer has both an iPhone and a lite version in the works. If you do own an iPad, I definitely recommend the HD version. The graphics are such that a larger screen really brings them out.
Dinger is so well done that it is obvious a veteran game developer is the head of the Gammon team. Every aspect from the memorable voice over expressions to the smooth gameplay is impressive. I look forward to seeing what other games Gammon Studios has coming down the pike.
