Eco Mania ($0.99) by Seby Moisei Eco Mania is a game designed to raise awareness of recycling. Items are place on a conveyor belt and players must put them in the correct recycling bin (paper, metal, glass, plastic). The app also comes with useful tips on how to live a sustainable and eco-friendly life.

The game is quite entertaining, and it is a great way to spread the word about proper recycling. Although you may think you know all there is to recycling, it is very surprising how quickly you lose. The four recycling bins are displayed in the background, each with a picture of their contents on it. As items pass on the conveyor belt it is the players job to drag the items into their appropriate recycling bin. Junk items should be left on the conveyor belt.

Players have three chances to incorrectly place an item before the game ends. As you progress through the game, the conveyor belt speeds up. Scores are based on the number of correctly placed items each round. Unfortunately, Eco Mania does not currently support either GameCenter or OpenFeint.

The “Guidebook For A Better World” contains tips on recycling and how to be eco-friendly. Some of the facts are quite astonishing, like “a plastic bag is used for about 15 minutes and disintegrates in 500 years.”

The only complaint I have is about the app’s font. In the guidebook especially, the font is small and because of its style, it is hard to read. A simpler font would have been better used to convey this information.

Overall, Eco Mania is a great way to improve awareness of being eco-friendly. Putting this information in a game format was a great idea. The game by itself is very entertaining, and it contains an educational message.
