Fin's Lagoon ($0.99) by Lamplighter Games Fin’s Lagoon is an aquatic game for your iPhone. Players take control of Fin the dolphin, and navigate him around the lagoon to find his friends while avoiding the mean fish. Although this may sound like fun, I found this game rather uninspiring.

The gameplay is simple. Use the control pad at the bottom of the screen to move Fin around the water. Fin must swim a certain distance to each checkpoint before time runs out. Making Fin jump out of the water and do tricks earns extra time. Finding golden dolphins makes Fin go faster. But colliding with a mine or shark slows Fin down.

Fin’s Lagoon is very easy. Too easy, I think. It is possible to not move Fin in a direction, just have him go forward, and complete a checkpoint. There is also very few changes between checkpoints, so the game doesn’t increase in difficulty the farther you go.

Points are earned by swimming a distance. The farther you go, the higher your points. Scores can be shared through OpenFeint, and there is also Facebook and Twitter integration.

The game’s graphics are cute, but after a while they become quite redundant. Above water, the background remains the same repeating loop throughout the duration of the game. The water and the wave tops also stay the same color. However, there are a variety of fish underneath the water.

Overall, Fin’s Lagoon is a can be entertaining but only for a short period of time. Personally, I did not find it very entertaining, but maybe you will.
