Google Is Now Easier To Use On The iPhone And Other Mobile Devices
June 29, 2011
Google is on the move, trying to stay on top of mobile search technology by changing their appearance on mobile browsers. The Google homepage has now been optimized for use on small screens, such as the iPhone.
The interface looks very clean and easy to use. There are tabs on the top of the page that are designed for browsing the Web, images, places and news. There is also a dropdown menu for more services such as: video, shopping, apps, maps, finance, books and more. All these tabs are easy to tap on your mobile screen.
A couple of weeks ago, Google implemented a few changes on their mobile homepage, such as Google Places, which includes icons to jump quickly to a search for restaurants, coffee places and bars. This new interface brings the homepage several steps further and makes mobile searches more efficient and enjoyable.
This is a welcome change to the Google homepage; often searches are needed on the go, and it is nice to have it accessible and easy to use on your iPhone.
It is rumored these changes are being rolled out in phases, however, I was able to open the new browser on my iPhone 4 with no trouble. This seems to be one of the better Google updates and search features I have seen. In the past I always hesitated and wondered if my search could wait until I returned to my computer or iPad. But now, I actually look forward to using this new feature on my iPhone.
