Rocket Bunnies HD ($2.99) by Chillingo Ltd Rocket Bunnies is an addictive new iPad action game. You play a lone astronaut rabbit who must launch into space to save the day and feed all the hungry bunnies trapped on various planets in the Arachnid and Carrot Galaxies.

When your rocket enters a planet’s orbit, it circles around endlessly until you decide to move to the next planet, a move executed by tapping another planet in the vicinity. The general principle of the game is to jump from planet to planet, feeding each bunny in the level along the way.

Of course, it’s not quite as simple as just cruising around in your rocket ship. You have to slingshot from planet to planet with as much centrifugal force as possible.

Plenty of obstacles will be in your way and must be avoided while you tend to the bunnies. Obstacles consist of mines, spider bombs, webs, lightning rods, bombs, fiery planets, and more. Avoiding these obstacles is a matter of timing and speed, as hitting a planet at the sweet spot will give you a boost that makes you temporarily faster and momentarily invincible, a must for avoiding some dangers.

To advance and score points, you must finish each level as fast as possible to earn between one and three stars. Each new planet takes a specific number of stars to unlock, from four to 50. As the game progresses, levels get trickier with new combinations of obstacles to overcome, however, the difficulty never reaches a frustrating level.

I reviewed the iPad version, but there's also an iPhone version, if that's your platform of choice.

It took a bit of practice, but once I got the hang of launching myself from planet to planet at the right speed, the game became addictive. I finished a galaxy and a half in nearly one sitting, which is about 40 levels out of 60. Despite this, there’s still plenty of gameplay left because I didn’t get three stars on every level and still have multiple planets to unlock.

I liked the star system to unlock planets, because even when I wasn’t able to beat a level perfectly, I could still progress. With the cute graphics, engaging gameplay, and fun text, I never got irritated or bored, even when replaying a level for the tenth time.

I loved Rocket Bunnies, and it’s definitely a game I will be revisiting time and time again.
