Priorities App Updated: Adds Repeating Tasks and Calendar Integration - Win a Copy

June 11, 2011
Hand Carved Code, LLC, has recently updated their popular to-do app, Priorities, to version 1.1. With the new update, they have answered many user requests, and it's now my favorite to-do app. They are also the developers of another of my favorite apps, Occasions. I have always had a vision of the perfect to-do task program for a family or group. First, I wanted it to be able to sync easily with other devices so my family and I could share grocery lists, wish lists, to-do lists, etc. Second, I wanted to be able to assign tasks to others. Third, I wanted repeating tasks. Why? Because I have lists like my daughter's chores and my medications listed and want them to repeat automatically when I check them off. I have a bad memory and wouldn't want to forget to add them again. The "pages" feature that we mentioned previously is a true workhorse when it comes to assigning tasks to family members. I just put those tasks on their pages and know they will see them as those pages are shared among us. The syncing works like a charm with Hand Carved Code's own service instead of relying on a third party that may do things differently. And finally, as you can see in the image, they have put in a robust repeating tasks feature. It can be set for specific days of the week, every x days, and many other configurations depending on your needs. Here are the update notes provided by Hand Carved Code, LLC:
  • Repeating tasks
  • Calendar integration (Settings > Data > Calendar; iOS 4 w/ multitasking required)
  • Search (via popup menu)
  • Improved page-management screen
  • Alert times relative to due dates when a due date is set (e.g. 3 days before due date @ 9:00am)
  • Option to turn off auto-star
  • Default settings for due dates, alerts, auto-star, and alert times
  • Option to unstar completed items (Settings > General)
  • Increased maximum length for notes
  • Bug fixes
The calendar feature is nice as it will automatically add your to-do items to your iPhone calendar. The search feature is also quite welcome when you have over 100 to-do items like I do. Now, seeing as this is my inaugural post here at AppAdvice, I decided to start with a bang. I have been in touch with the developers and have been given 10 promotional codes to give out to you guys and gals. So here's the deal: Leave a comment stating how the new version of Priorities will benefit you and I will pick my 10 favorite comments on Sunday, June 12, at 8 p.m. EST. Bonus points will be awarded for tweeting this post and for making me laugh. Good luck! Priorities is available on the App Store for $2.99. [gallery link="file"]
