Get Creative, But Be Quick With Dekko
Dekko ($0.99) by Betz Software is a new word game for the iPhone with a bit of a twist. You must create words while swimming through ponds in different environments. But be quick to make them, or you won't do so well.
Help Nigel the ... lizard? Gecko! He's probably a gecko! Why do they always give geckos very English-sounding names anyway? And accents. They always have accents.
Right. So, you're some sort of reptile, no matter your origin, and the goal is to swim through ponds to collect letters and ultimately spell words. The controls are simple and effective: tilt your iPhone right or left to move and collect the letters and coins as you go. You are constantly moving forward at the same speed (no going backwards), so choose your movements carefully.
Now, that's the easy stuff. The hard part is the order the letters will come in. They come in waves of three initially, all of them in a row. Because of this, you must move quickly if you want to snag all three letters.
In the upper right corner of the screen, you will see three rows of three letters each. The bottom row is always the next row of letters you will come across. This way, you can attempt to plan your words out, but you must be quick to do so or else you won't be able to spell anything.
If you get stuck with a string of letters that you don't want, just hit the X to get rid of them. Also, if the game detects it is actually impossible to spell a word from the letters you've accumulated, you'll be informed and a red X will pop up. Click the X and you have a clean slate.
The better you do, the more upgrades (and trophies!) you will get to help you win. Once you complete the main game, freeplay mode will be unlocked and you can go to town.
