Get Addicted By Moving Flowers

June 24, 2011

Flower Board ($0.99) by Phoenix Solutions will make you an expert at flower arrangements, though not in the way you may think.

The game board is a honeycomb of cells. Different colored flowers (resembling glass markers) populate the cells. Place six like-colored flowers together, and they’ll disappear. However, more and more flowers will appear in the other cells with each move.

Tap one of the flowers and select which open cell you’d like it to go to. It can travel across the board, provided it’s not trapped in a cluster of other flowers, and the path is clear.

Smaller flower markers will start showing up in the other cells. These are the flowers that will pop up once you move. The game ends once the board is completely filled.

This is one of those games that is simple to learn but difficult to master. The best strategy I stumbled upon is using the upcoming flowers to complete your group of six. You’ll also want to keep the middle of the board as clear as possible so your flowers can move freely (easier said than done). Your chances of eliminating flowers diminish the more the board fills.

Icons for the upcoming flowers show at the bottom of the screen, though this doesn’t seem too helpful, since you can see the next round of flowers on the game board. I didn't particularly care for the music in the game either.

However, these are small things that can easily be overlooked. In the end, this is a challenging game that will definitely make you think twice about how easy it is to move a simple marker.
