If you have already purchased Pro Gear and the in-app addition, you don’t need this app. If not, you don’t want to pass up this fun and addictive game.
When you first open the app, you are given the option to play the Challenge or play around with the drum kits in FreeJam mode. Beginners should start off with the challenge and play the tutorial and warm up, just to give you an idea of how to play. Similar to Tap Tap Revenge and other timing-based music games, Jam Kit lights up drum pieces for you to tap in a specific pattern.
Starting out, the levels are simple and slow, but as you get deeper into the game, the levels get harder and harder until your fingers are moving so fast, you don’t even know what is happening. All levels are unlocked, so you don’t have to suffer through the easy stuff if you are a seasoned pro at this type of game. In addition to the included challenges, you can download and rate challenges from other players around the world; you will never run out of levels to play.
In FreeJam, you can experiment with the drum kits and get some practice in before trying a difficult challenge. The “Pro Gear” aspect of this app is the addition of the larger and more complicated drum kits. You can choose from the minimal kit for the easiest gameplay, and you can change to the larger Pro Status kit, or even try your hand (pun intended) at The King kit. Each kit includes more drum pieces than the last. You can also change the sound of the drum beats by switching between Acoustic, Studio, Club and Hip Hop.
From the FreeJam section, you can also build your own challenge that can be uploaded to the world of JamKit players. You can tap out your own pattern that will be saved in the game and added to the World Challenge section. Other players will attempt to beat your challenge and will rate your efforts. If your challenge is worthy, it will gain popularity in the World Challenges section.
Overall, this is an engaging and entertaining game with hours of addictive game play. There is no end to the number of challenges you can play.
