See Your Class Schedule At-A-Glance With Timetable HD 2
Timetable HD 2 ($0.99) by Alexander Schilling Apps is an app that allows you to easily view your complete class schedule with style in chunks.
For students, keeping track of classes can be daunting. Your own classes, and even your friends schedule. This app can even work for teachers too. Being able to see your class schedule at a glance can save you a lot of time. That's what Timetable HD 2 wants to help you do.
The first thing you want to do when you launch Timetable HD 2 is to start inputting your schedule. The layout is divided into weeks, and by default, you'll find yourself in the Week One view.
From here, you'll see a week view in landscape orientation, or today in portrait. You can add rows that will give you space to put your classes in. In portrait view, you can add a class by tapping on the space where you would like to add it. Tapping on a cell will allow you to enter information like class, teacher, room, and period. A time marker is displayed to show you the current time in the day.
Have a class multiple times a week? Whenever you add in the name of the class again, the app will automatically fill in the rest of the information for you. This is nice and can save you time from having to input the same information over and over.
However, I had a few problems here. Class times will be shown in 24-hour format, with no option to change it in the settings. If you also put in your classes in the wrong order, you can't rearrange them. I've tried the normal ways I would go about moving things in other apps to no avail.
Timetable HD allows you to add another schedule of classes as well, which is good if you want to have a friend's schedule with you to compare with. However, you'll have to switch between them constantly, as there isn't a side-by-side view to compare.
The app settings allow you to toggle the time marker, and the Saturday and Sunday columns on the week view.
The design of the app is beautiful and well-designed, and the developers put a lot of thought into the design of it.
While it's a good thing that you can see quickly where your classes are, it would also be useful to see the times of when your classes end.
It's also a little confusing to figure out at first. If you make a mistake in entering in your classes, you can't rearrange them. I would also like to see it have an option to display a.m. or p.m. or 24-hour format for class times.
Being able to compare schedules side-by-side would be nice as well, rather than having to switch between them. Showing the time in the week or day views would be useful as well.
With a bit more work, however, Timetable HD 2 could be a great, useful tool for all students and teachers. Until then, I would recommend passively keeping an eye on it for updates.
