Quirky App Of The Day: DestrOrgan

June 18, 2011
Everyone has a bad day. Sometimes they start that way. Sometimes they turn that way. Regardless, everyone has them. Everyone needs something to help pull them out of the rut. Whether it's a pint on Ben & Jerry's ice cream, a stupendously stupid movie, or cuddly animals, there's got to be that special go-to something that takes the edge off the day. You know, besides booze. DestrOrgan was my special something today. I watched while I smashed keys to the sounds of meowing cats, howling dogs, or disgusting farts. I even could play a regular piano when it suited my fancy. Ask any of the other editors here at AppAdvice. I was not a pleasant little cookie to be around today. However, a few organs blasted to kingdom come, and I am feeling pretty good. See, that's the thing about writing about quirky, strange, cool, and random apps. I go and find things that most people just glance over. I write about them to entertain others. I would be horrible at writing prescription brochures. They would read something along the lines of, "Dude, your doctor think this is a good idea, and so does the pharmacist. Come see us if you start peeing blood." While some patients might enjoy that, most others wouldn't. So when I'm having a bad day, it's hard to sit down and be funny or entertaining. It's a mindset sort of thing. DestrOrgan made it easier on me. It's hard to stay angry when an organ is farting at you. It's even harder when the tab to activate the farting sound effects is a gas mask. If I was absolutely intent of staying ticked off, it melted away when the farts had pitch and tone. As do the cats and dogs. It's pretty fun trying to do scales to cat wails. Seeing as no animals are harmed in the making of your destructive symphony, there's no guilt. DestrOrgan is just an awesome stress melting app. Beating the tar out of a keyboard feels great. Hearing the pieces crunch under your touch and seeing the pieces scatter just warms the heart a little. The entire screen, not just the keys, is subject to your whims. So, go to town. DestrOrgan is available at iTunes for $0.99[gallery]
