Quirky App Of The Day: Gun Building

Anyone who is familiar with the movie Major Payne is surely acquainted with the scene when he describes his favorite activity as hanging upside-down and assembling his guns while blindfolded. This app reminds me of that. Only it's done in the safe environment of a touch screen without the potential to kill the user. A killjoy to some, I'm sure.
Gun Building is an app that allows user to completely customize their own gun. I'm sure this isn't nearly as thrilling as what Major Payne is capable of, but for a safety freak like me, I feel a little more confident with using the app. Does it actually qualify me as a "good shot" that I can hit the moving target with my index finger on a screen, rather than on a trigger? Well, let's put it this way: the last time I fired a gun, it kicked up, and we're rather sure that somewhere, a plane was brought down.
Mainly the coolness comes from the attachments. I added knives and grenades. Due to the fact that the zombie apocalypse is only a matter of time, it's nice to know that I can turn a gun into an explosive pelting, bayonet slashing, weapon of carnage and death. I think I just drooled a little bit over the awesomeness of that prospect.
After customizing your weapon to the max, you can fire it or taking it the shooting range for a test drive. The only complaint I have is that I wasn't able to aim up or down. I had to physically raise the gun. This deprived me of the ability to do target head shots. I won't pretend to be any sort of video game expert. I'm sure that there's someone out there who will have it figured out in a matter of seconds, but with all the dinking around I did on the app, I couldn't find it. My consolation in this egregious oversight (if, in fact, it is an oversight) is the fact that the app is free. So, there's nothing holding users from taking it out for a spin and creating guns of their own creative imaginings.
