In the past players were profiled in magazines, posters, trading cards, but today athletes are more often featured in Blogs, Facebook pages, and Twitter feeds. With the iPhone and iPad making a big difference in everything from education to business, we can certainly expect to see player profile apps changing the sports industry.
With online communication making it easier for athletes to market themselves and contact more schools and coaches than ever before, it is important that we develop new methods to consolidate networking tools. Websites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Email clients should all be accessible from one place.
Furthermore, game footage can be viewed right in the app. Users have the ability to fast forward and rewind through footage on the go at anytime. In the case of April Rain Carson’s app she also has footage of herself and highlights of games. On a larger scale it could be used to view footage for an entire team or sport. This is pure innovation at its finest. The iPhone was all about taking a pre-existing idea and completely transforming and improving it based on our needs. Apps like these will change the sports industry for minors and recruiting services in no time.
